The following pictures
were taken during the 2003-2004 School Year. This was my second year
teaching gifted students and my third year teaching. My overall
decoration theme was Medieval Times. During the 2003-2004 school year,
my gifted students learned about various aspect of Medieval Times. They
learned about architectural designs, cathedrals with stained glass
windows, knights, medieval government, medieval life, and more through
the reading of various books along with online research. One of our
final projects was to write a Medieval story and publish it inside our
student-made Castle Folders. You can learn more about the Castle folders
by visiting the Download Café section of
the Teacher's Corner. Look for the document
titled "Castle Writing Folder" under the Miscellaneous section.

Students learned about stained glass windows while learning about the design and architecture of Medieval cathedrals
Our stained glass windows were brilliant as the outdoor light shone upon them
Students also learned about Early Religion in the Middle Ages and created Ziploc Quilts on topics from this time
Here's a close-up on a Ziploc Quilt about Cathedrals

Our hallway door was decorated with the student-made stained glass windows and Haiku poems
Our other hallway door contained more student written Haikus
Here I am presenting at "Tea Time for Teachers" where I shared my "Castle Writing Folder" idea as a best practice
Teachers working on creating their own Castle Writing Folder
Teachers really enjoyed this activity and the ways they could adapt it for almost any subject
