In order to understand the most from your classroom assignments, it's always good to take notes. Here are a couple of tips for taking good notes.

• Write notes in your own words unless you’re copying a definition or quote.
   

• Write down main ideas and important terms. Pay special attention to words or ideas that are bold-faced or underlined
   

• Do not try to write down every word.
   

• Abbreviate longer words and words that are commonly used.
   

• Write your notes legibly.
   

• Don’t be too concerned with spelling or grammar. You can fix mistakes later.
   

• Leave lots of space around your notes so you can add information later.
   

• Review your notes. If you don’t understand something, reread or ask your teacher to clarify.
   

• Keep your notes neat and organized. Store them in a notebook or folder
